Updates - Blue Streak Wines

Hi Everyone,

Blue Streak is continuing to operate and will do so into the forseeable future. We are going to be changing how we do business. As of Friday, April 3rd, we will no longer allow customers in to browse the store for items. We will have a table at the front where you can ask our staff to get the items you'd like, or to recommend a wine or spirit for your enjoyment. We are doing this to keep everyone, staff and customers, as safe as possible. 

We continue to strongly recommend you browse our website (www.bluestreakwine.com) and order for pickup or delivery. Our staff will deliver to the doorman of your building, or to the front door of your apartment building. We will not be able to deliver directly to your apartment door. Once you order you will get two emails. The first is confirming your order went through. The second email confirms we have processed your order and it will be delivered soon, or is ready for pickup at the store. 

What are we doing in the store

I want to take a moment and let you know what it is we are doing in the store to keep things clean and safe. It gives me a small amount of relief that according to the New York Times, LIC remains a relatively low acuity area for the virus. That said, this is not the time to ease off, but instead the time to press for stricter changes to keep everyone safe.

All of our staff is required to wear gloves and to change those gloves regularly. We have ordered masks for all of our staff to wear and have encouraged our staff to make or purchase at least three washable and reuseable masks for themselves. We are consulting with an emergency physician on the proper use of the masks and gloves. We have hand sanitizer readily available. 

In addition, all of our staff washes their hands at least 20 seconds upon entering the store and again every time they leave and come back. 

We wipe down all of our surfaces, including fridge doors, the front door, our personal bathroom door handles and bathroom equipment, once an hour. That also include the credit card machines, computer keyboards and mice, scanners, and any hot spot that gets touched. 

I have hired three times the normal staff so that we can break into teams. Each team only works with those staff members on their assigned days. If any staff member gets sick, that entire team will be rested for two weeks (with pay) before being allowed to work again. The store will then shut down for a brief period while we do an extra thorough job sanitizing, expecting to last no fewer than 2 days. The other teams will then fill in the days that need filling so that operations continue. As of now we have no known cases that have come into the store, and none of the staff has reported even a sniffle from alergies. 

I am telling you all of this so that you are comfortable knowing we are doing absolutely everything we can to stay safe during these times.
