Cavit 2004 Vigneti delle Dolomiti Teroldego ($8) Very dark reddish-purple, clear garnet edge. Black raspberry scents gain intriguing complexity from a distinct mineral note that's pleasantly reminescent of rainwater over rusty iron. Flavors are consistent with the nose, dry and acidic, raspberries and that clean "rusty" note lingering in the finish. Snappy acidity makes it a fine food companion. FOOD MATCH: Crisp acidity makes it a versatile food match. It was fine with a rustic pasta dish, penne with Italian sausage and broccoli rabe and plenty of Pecorino Romano cheese. Feudi San Gregorio 2004 Falanghina ($12.00)
Clear light gold in color, this classically styled Falanghina offers attractive aromas of white fruit, banana oil and toasted almonds. Fresh and full, good body and texture, flavors follow the nose with mouth-watering acidity to provide texture. FOOD MATCH: Haddock dusted with flour and pan-fried with butter and sage, a simple recipe from the Italian Silver Spoon cookbook. (Best Value 2006 Robin Garr: Wine Lovers.com)

Di Majo Norante Sangiovese Igt 2005

90 Points - Robert Parker (Wine Advocate)

"The 2005 Sangiovese IGT offers an amazing display of strawberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with floral, new saddle leather, and earth notes. Aged in large wood foudres, it is a stunning example of Sangiovese that should drink well for 2-3 years. This wine represents incredible value for the money." Food: Pasta

Falesco 2003 Vitiano Rosso Umbria ($10.99)
Inky dark reddish-purple. Black cherries and subtle brown spices on the nose and palate, well structured with snappy fresh-fruit acidity, with smooth tannins coming in on the finish. Clean and fresh, well balanced, with alcohol at a rational 12.5 percent, a pleasant surprise from the overheated vintage of 2003. FOOD MATCH: A natural with red meat and a cliche, for good reason, with tomato-sauced pasta and pizza. It fared well with the Northeastern Italian dish of polenta topped with sausage and mushrooms and Asiago fresco cheese
